At Winefred Lake Lodge we provide our clients with exceptional service, attending to the smallest of details. Our modern hand-hewn log lodge and light-housekeeping cabins provide comfort in a relaxed, casual atmosphere.

Winefred Lake Lodge is committed to the responsible management of Alberta's fishing resource, and as such, we advocate "Catch & Release" fishing.

Winefred Lake is situated in the heart of Alberta's boreal forest, 185 km (70 miles) southeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta Canada. Winefred Lake boasts some of the finest trophy fishing in Alberta Canada, consistently producing large Northern Pike and Walleye.

We have 4 rooms attached to the main lodge, each of which accommodates 4 people, with a private bathroom and shower in each unit. Or if you prefer, we have self-contained cabins on site. Two of the cabins have 3 bedrooms, while one has two bedrooms. The cabins have fridge, stove, cooking utensils, gas bar-b-que and everything else you would expect.

Guests are provided with 16' aluminum fishing boats equipped with new 20 horsepower motors; this combination is perfect for fishing Winefred Lake. The lake itself is 36 km long (14 miles) and 23 km (9 miles) wide giving you plenty of room to "hook the big one!"

While initially coming to fish, hunt or bird watch, after a few days, it is not uncommon to find guests reading a good book on the expansive deck or relaxing in our outdoor hot tub.

During the winter season, many guests use our lodge as a base for snowmobiling along the shoreline, across the lake or on the regional trail network.

Winefred Lake Lodge is accessible by either road or air. If you plan to drive to the lodge we recommend that you have a reliable 4 - wheel drive vehicle. Should you need to, rentals are available from all the major rent-a-car companies.

BOOKING POLICY

A $250 deposit of the total price is required to confirm your reservation. Upon arrival, the balance is due and may be paid in Cash, VISA or MasterCard, American Express.

With 30 days Cancellation Notice, Winefred Lake Lodge will refund your Deposit!

The boreal forest in Northeastern Alberta is characterized by a variety of cover type including Jack Pine, Aspen, Tamarack, White & Black Poplar, Birch & Black Spruce. For the most part, much of the boreal forest is muskeg and is all but inaccessible with the exception of cutlines created by oil & gas exploration. Winefred Lake Lodge is uniquely located within the boreal forest to provide an ideal staging area for hunting deer, moose or black bear.

Situated in Wildlife Management UNIT (WMU) 517, we offer quality hunts with personalized guiding in one of Alberta's most remote hunting regions. Winefred Lake Lodge is open year-round which enables us to observe wildlife movements on a full time basis.

Our season runs from the beginning of September to the end of November. All hunts are conducted using a variety of methods. These include; ATV's, Tree Stands and Ground Blinds.

Round-trip transportation between Winefred Lake Lodge and the Fort McMurray Airport is provided. Hunters should plan to arrive the day prior to a scheduled hunt.

A deposit of $1000 (US) per hunter is required. The balance is paid upon arrival at the Lodge. All Payments should be made payable to Winefred Lake Lodge in the form of a Cashier's Cheque (check), Money Order, Cash, VISA or MasterCard. The 7% Goods & Services Tax (GST) is included in the price of the hunt.

All hunting licences will be pre-purchased for clients. References are available upon request.
